Day 11: Dia del Amor

Hope everyone's having a lovely Valentine's Day. I'm not too sure if my Spanish is even remotely correct in my title, oh well. I'm not doing much for Valentine's today, partially because Curtis and I don't ever really do much, but also because I've got another exam tomorrow and he's leaving for our hometown tonight. So, I'll be celebrating tonight with myself and some books, too much fun. But, I wanted to share a little bit of lovin' on my blog today, get in the spirit and whatnot, so I'm going to tell you a little bit about mine and Curtis's relationship! I hope this is interesting, or else, this could be awkward.

Curtis and I met in high school. I was a freshman, he was a junior. We were both in band, which is how we met. He played the french horn, I played the flute. Neither of really enjoyed band, but we're both really glad we were in it so we could meet each other. Not to say that we probably wouldn't have met each other anyway, our high school wasn't very big. He stretched (as in bending over) in front of me one fine summer day in band practice, I was embarrassed, those are the things that make us different. He likes to make a scene (not in a bad way), and I'm more reserved..sometimes. He messaged me over AIM (an invention used thousands of years ago, or so it seems), the two things I remember from our silly conversations from oh so long ago: his beagle, Patti Wags howling at 'coons and this youtube video, Old Greg. Both of those things can tell you a lot about us. He eventually gave me his phone number, which I didn't quite believe was real because the last four digits are 0000. Needless to say, I'll never forget his phone number

We went to too many proms. Three total, but I don't have the other year's pictures on my hard drive. Excuse my whiteness in the second picture, lol.
Our relationship had it's ups and downs back then, we broke up and got back together, but we both grew so much from all of it. I remember people asking me why I was with him, and my best answer was, he's different than all the rest. And it's so true, he cherishes me, and sure, maybe someone else could've done that, but not like Curtis does. He makes me laugh until I cry, and when I am actually crying, he knows just what to say to make me forget all about it and just laugh it out. He graduated two years before me, that was rough. I missed him so much, but I grew into my own person, I learned to be me without him. I know it made me stronger. But, once I got to college, we were stronger than ever, and we haven't looked back since.

We both always sort of knew that we wanted to get married, and after almost six years together, Curtis proposed on July 27, 2012. I had nooo idea what was happening when it happened. Seriously, none. His sister had taken me out to eat for lunch, normal. His mom, grandma, sister, and I went and got manicures and pedicures, semi-normal..but I honestly thought it was for his MeeMee. We all went to campus to "take pictures" of the newly completed building, it's an important building, and Curt's dad likes photography, so not unusual. I thought Curtis was on his way to College Station from our hometown because he was supposed to have been shadowing a doctor at a hospital that morning, but no, no, no. He had been there the entire time planning out that wonderful day for me, and getting everything ready for him to propose.

And then it happened. I walked around the corner, completely oblivious to what was going on..per usual, and then I saw Curtis standing in front of the fountain. I knew what was happening, I just couldn't believe it was actually real. So, I walked slowly over to him..again, I was in shock people, and he got down on one knee, said some really lovely things that I can't even remember because I was already emotional, and I said yes! I was also really glad I was wearing normal clothes and not a t-shirt and shorts, or else, this would've been awkward. We walked around and took some more photos, and soon we were on our way to a super fancy dinner at a local restaurant, Christopher's, where there was another surprise in-store for me waiting at the dinner table with the rest of Curt's family, my parents! I couldn't believe it, it was so perfect.

I'm definitely standing on my tip toes in this one, he's a whole foot taller than me. Oh, and if you can't tell, we've both had really successful weight-loss journey within the past year. Just one of the many reasons I love him, he supports me and stands right along with me in all of my goals.

There's so much more to us, but I don't want to blab on forever and ever in one post. He's amazing, and I wouldn't trade our relationship for the world. I'm so blessed to have such a wonderful man of God soon become my husband, and I can't even describe how excited I am to start my adventure with this boy. I love you, Curt.

Oh, and no, I had not forgotten about my outfit for today.. here it is:

I was rockin' the beanie this morning, but..it warmed up considerably, so it wasn't exactly necessary when I took my pictures for le day. I'm kinda casual today because I'm super exhausted, and I've got another sleepless night ahead of me. But, I did get into the festive mode with my fushia skinnies and my heart earrings! Hope you enjoyed my little life store, and hope y'all have a great Valentine's Day.

    2. Oh, and they say if two people walk under it together, they'll be together forever. Cliche, but adorable. Naturally, I had to take pictures under it! ;)

    3. The legend of our tree is that if two people kiss under the tree, they'll get married... Well it's where Larry and I's first kiss was!
