Happy List.

Howdee. I don't have a whole lot to say today, so I thought I'd make a happy list. You know, of things that have made me happy lately! And I'll add in a few photos of myself in my favorite tee for funsies.

Complementary Colors

This past week in my photography class we had to do a project over colors; I was under the impression that it was about complementary colors, but apparently I didn't have to go that far in-depth. I automatically new what colors I wanted to use -- blue and orange. They're my absolute favorite complementary colors. I've probably mentioned it to Curtis half-a-hundred times. So, when we got assigned the assignment, I automatically knew which colors I was going to choose. I saw this dress in Old Navy a few months ago and wanted it really badly, but I decided to it wasn't worth $35 (cheapo here, remember?). Well, I had seen the dress on a number of people and realized I did in fact want it rather badly, and I went to Old Navy to see if it might still be in the store (aka, clearance section). It wasn't, I searched eBay, but people on there sell stuff for ridiculous prices.. why would I buy it for $25 and then pay you $12 for shipping? I mean, really? So, I gave up on finding it. Then.. I walked into the Waco Plato's Closet a few weeks ago, and BAM, there it was in all of it's orange glory, in my size, for $6. That's my story for the day. Patience and thrifting people, it works.

Oh, and if you were wondering why the heck I was talking about complementary colors and my photography class, here's the picture I took for my class. I took off my rings so it wouldn't be as apparent that it was me in the photo. I've been having so much fun with all of these assignments, and every week I can't wait to get the next! This week is all about portraiture, so I'm pretty stoked!

Unintended

I honestly had no intentions of taking these photos when I set out on my journey to find the bridge pictured below. In fact, I was on the hunt for a good spot to take some "motion blur" photos for my photography class, and the plan was to find this awesome old bridge because: one, I thought at least one train would go across it (I do live in College STATION for cryin' out loud); two, a train moves.. and I thought it would make a cool shot; and three, I've always wanted to take photos of this bridge. Welp, no train came by while I stood there for 45 minutes wandering around, trying not to get bit by something (mosquitoes mainly + some scary unknown thing in the brush), and I just ended up snapping pictures of the sunset and myself instead.

Hopefully, by the time everyone is reading this, I will have found a train to take pictures of.. But, you do get to see my elephant shirt! It's so fun, and I never thought I'd be buying a button-up with an animal printed all over it, but I did. The day I wore this, a girl actually came up behind me and said, "are those elephants all over your shirt?!" to which I nervously replied, "yes?". Apparently she loves elephants and was going to go buy one for herself right after class, ha! It was kinda creepy, but a compliment all the same.

The location for all of these photos is slightly outside of Bryan, and every time I go out there.. it feels like what Texas A&M would've felt like 60 or 70 years ago. Lots of country, farms, ranches, and even cotton fields! I don't think I've ever noticed the cotton fields before, but I really wanted to stop and take pictures.. I just didn't know if that would be considered trespassing or not, so I just kept driving. Even though Texas makes me super angry with all of its crazy hot weather, I do love driving around here out in the open. You can see for miles and miles, and you never know what you might come upon.

Out of Focus

For some odd reason, I had a really big problem with getting my photos in focus for this post. It was absolutely frustrating, and my backyard is disgusting right now -- rain makes it a swampland. So, I got outta there as fast as I could. Outfit posts, they're hard sometimes all the time lately.

Anyway, say hello to my favorite clothing items of late. This Madewell tee is super soft and comfy.. meaning I wear it all the time; the bf jeans, well you know them already, and finally my flats. Giiiirl, they are the most comfortable pair of sandals I own. I was actually really surprised by that fact, but they truly are. I'll wear them until they can't be worn no more.

Happy Humpday, y'all.

Dotted

Button-up: Forever 21 | Shorts: Express (old) | Sandals: DV by Dolce Vita | Watch: MK | Bangle: Forever 21

So, I took these photos after I got out of my photography class.. I'm pretty happy to say I've found a new spot to take pictures at that's out of the way of random people (or so I thought, ha). I didn't get a decent picture of my shoes because these two guys literally drove up, parked right next to my car -- mind you, this parking lot is completely empty at this time of day -- and freaked me out. Apparently this field is used for RVs and tailgates during football game weekends, and they were claiming their spot. So, I just kind of packed my stuff up awkwardly and left..ha. Oh well, they didn't ask questions, and politely asked me if it was okay for them to walk by. If I had known what exactly they were doing at first, I would've definitely just kept taking pictures, buuuut.. oh well. You'll see these shoes much, much more. I want to wear them everywhere right now! I won't tell you their story until you actually get to see them, tehe.

The button-up has a story behind it, too. I fell in love with one exactly like this from Madewell, but it was $70, and I just couldn't bring myself to get it. Plus, my mom was paying and I'd feel awful. So, I left Madewell super bummed because that blouse was the blouse I had been looking for. About 30 minutes later, I walked into Forever 21.. I wasn't looking for anything in-particular, and it was PACKED, but there she was, the exact copy of the top I had just left behind in Madewell, in the middle of the top shelf, right in my line of vision. I quickly ran over to see if they had my size and made a beeline for the dressing room to try it on. It fit perfectly, and even better.. it was only $15! Kristina was happy, happy, happy. I'm so obsessed with the tiny polka dots!

Like the new bloggy blog? I've been working on it for the past week or so, and just wanted a clean, modern look. Can't go wrong with black and white. Happy Thursday, lovelies!

Stripes and Beagles

Look at me.. posting an outfit post. The little get up isn't anything too fancy, but it's been a staple for me all summer. Easy tee + denim shorts + fun flats or sandals = the only thing optimal to wear during Texas summers. I've been wanting a red striped shirt for awhile, and I got this one on a little back-to-school shopping trip. As for the flats, I got 'em on sale when I was looking for a new shirt for Curtis awhile back. They're nice and airy, perfect for summertime.

This week is Alabama week in Aggieland; this game between us and the University of Alabama is quite possibly the biggest game in living memory for A&M, and I AM PUMPED. ESPN College Gameday is coming.. I'll probably be making my way over to the set randomly with Curtis, so you know.. look out for us, hehe. It's going to be extremely hard to focus, so I'm going to pray for some determination and get as much as I possibly can out of the way before Friday.. which is also Curtis's birthday. Gonna be a crazy week, y'all! I've been gathering presents and food ideas for awhile now for Curt, since it's our first birthday to celebrate together as a married couple, I wanted to make it special. There will be lots of chocolate involved. I say sorry in advanced to my Health and Fitness class.

I'll also be giving a presentation for my Small Business Management class on Wednesday, it's over patents and trademarks, so I'm not incredibly worried.. but yeah, presentations aren't ever fun for me. I've been working on a Webpage for it with a group of three other girls, and I'm praying it all comes together before Wednesday! You guys.. Wordpress is weeeeeird, and you have to pay for anything to "enhance" the page, no bueno.

Okay, I'll leave you with some beagle photos. Always a good thing, right?

Muggles has this weird thing where she looks up at things and studies them for long periods of time. It makes me laugh every single time because she seems so surprised to see things up above her - stuff on walls, airplanes, things on top of fences, shadows on walls - so funny. But, I suppose, it must be different being on a two-foot eye level for the most part. The picture above is the face she makes when she's studying an object above her. Tehe. And then there's Skywalker, who never stops moving long enough for me to get a decent picture. :P

The dog days of summer

It's getting to that point where I'm just kind of tired of the heat.. oh wait, I never said it could inhabit my world anyway. What I've learned this summer is I'm actually kind of allergic to the sun? Not in the, "oh my gosh, I'm not going outside! It'll melt me!" kind of way.. more like, "ew, I have red blouchy patches all over my skin and they won't go away until I take a shower and have been out of the sun for a couple of hours" type of thing goin' on. So, bear with me here if I don't post outfits as often as I would like, it's really annoying to go outside pretty much any other time than sunset, and.. normally I'm doing homework or cooking then.

But, the other day I had to go up to campus to work on a group speech, so I decided to bring the camera with me since I knew we'd most likely be getting done around sunset. I made my way over to grassy section of campus {aka away from people..}, and started taking pictures. I'm sorry to say, I had to edit my face a teeny bit because I was still all red and flushed from just being outside for 20 minutes or so. Seriously heat, go away, no one wants you.

Oh hey, it's that eyelet blouse again. It's definitely been my go-to top this summer, and it's so classic, I don't see that changing for quite sometime. Although this outfit is rather simple, I'd say summer calls for more simple outfits anyway. I mean, do you want to tromp around campus all day long in 99* weather in layers? Nope, didn't think so. I say, go with what's comfortable and makes you feel good, it's always better in the long run.. or short run because if I'm not comfortable, I usually want to go home and change the moment I leave the house!

This weekend was a good one. Curtis and I went a little further east to Conroe, Texas and camped out with his parents Friday night. Good thing about Conroe, it's got the best of both worlds.. meaning it's about 15-20 minutes away from the big city, so we went to see Wolverine Saturday afternoon and did a little bit of browsing around in The Woodlands (yeah, that's the name of the town). Being from the central part of Texas, there aren't lots and lots of wooded areas, and you can see for miles and miles. So I really love it when we get to go out to East Texas and are surrounded by all the tall pine trees. All-in-all, it was a great weekend and I'm not too excited for Monday to come along..

It's always sunny..

Tank: Forever 21 | Skirt: Gap | Belt: Gap | Sandals: Old Navy | Sunglasses: Cole Han via TJ Maxx

Why yes, I'm using the fence to hide from the sun. It's seriously too hot and too, too sunny to take pictures during the daytime. But, Curtis is off at office hours for his class, so I decided to take some quick snaps before I have to go back and pick him up. Ugh, I'm ready for October.

Anyway, this skirt. I love it. I got it with the sandals I'm wearing {both for free} using rewards money to Gap/Old Navy. It helped give me a little courage yesterday while I started my second session for summer courses. I'm taking communications and business statistics. So yeah, I'll be having lots of fun for the next month. Not.

Happy Wednesday!

Date Night

So, I decided that I couldn't wait for my tripod, and decided to whip out the 'ole iPhone to take some outfit photos.. because 1. I'm impatient and 2. I'm in love with my new shirt.

Curtis decided we would have a little date night this past Friday, just so we could have a little time to relax and forget about things. I had a test last Wednesday, and he has one this week, so it's been pretty stressful around here lately, not to mention we have house stuff to do on top of it all. So, we went late Friday night (we're night owls..) and ate a little burger joint in front of the theater, and then went to see World War Z. I've never read the book, so I didn't have an expectations for it.. and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. I really did enjoy the whole movie, well, maybe I did laugh out loud a few times at the goofy zombies. Seriously, if anyone else has seen it, PLEASE tell me you laughed at their silly shenanigans when Brad Pitt got all up-close and personal at the World Health Organization. Anyway, it was a fun night, and I'm glad we got to enjoy each other's company alone for a bit.

Blouse: JC Penney | Skirt: A-Town (Austin, TX) | Belt: NY&Co | Flats: Shoedazzle via Plato's Closet

That moment when you do a goofy picture, and it actually turns out decent.. what? This never happens to me! Okay, outfit breakdown time: the blouse, I adore it! I had been looking for an eyelet blouse for so long, and I spotted this one at JC Penney's a couple of weeks ago, but.. I didn't want to spend the money for it. Then, as I was searching through my wallet, I found a long lost JC Penney's gift card, score! So I went back for it and a pair of shorts, both on sale, made me one happy camper. The skirt's one of my favorites still, it's just so comfy and the pop of coraly-red is something I don't often wear, so it's always fun. Finally, the flats. I've had them since January, but I hadn't ever really worn them. They were a bit tight on my feet (curse you wide feet!), so I always put them aside for another pair. But I was bound and determined to wear them this night, so I did, and I eventually stretched them out.. thank goodness!

Bleh, I want my tripod back after looking at the quality of these photos, not to mention I'm out of practice when it comes to taking outfit photos, oh noes! But, I have missed it, and hope to be making it a regular thing again reaaaaaally soon. Hope the start to everyone's week has been swell! Part Two of the cruise will be up tomorrow, and here's a selfie of us in line for the movie for funsies! :)

Polka Dotted Love

Keepin' it short and sweet. I love these shorts! They're absolutely perfect for the summertime because they're.. well, shorts for one, and they're very light and airy because they're a chambray-esque material. The best part though, they're polka dotted! I knew I had to have them once I saw them in Gap Factory, and my dad was kind enough to get them for me.. along with some seahorse sleeping shorts and polka dotted flats. They're having an amazing sale right now, so I'd definitely recommend going and checking it out if you've got one near you! I can't wait to wear 'em on my cruise! Plus, they are loose enough, that I feel really comfortable wearing them. Along with my breezy shorts, is my breezy blouse -- I got it a couple of summers back from JC Penney, and it's been a favorite of my ever since.

I'm currently working on some last minute gift projects for family members and what not, so it's pretty time consuming, plus, Curtis and I have to go back to College Station tomorrow/Thursday to get some more packing done and do a couple of paperwork type things up at school. But, we're hoping these last few days fly by (well, just give me enough time to finish everything.. please, please, please). Thank y'all for your sweet comments on my post yesterday! I can't wait to show y'all how it all comes together! Plus, I really want to show people my bridal pictures. I'm kind of obsessed with them!

Happy Wednesday everyone! :)
