Complementary Colors

This past week in my photography class we had to do a project over colors; I was under the impression that it was about complementary colors, but apparently I didn't have to go that far in-depth. I automatically new what colors I wanted to use -- blue and orange. They're my absolute favorite complementary colors. I've probably mentioned it to Curtis half-a-hundred times. So, when we got assigned the assignment, I automatically knew which colors I was going to choose. I saw this dress in Old Navy a few months ago and wanted it really badly, but I decided to it wasn't worth $35 (cheapo here, remember?). Well, I had seen the dress on a number of people and realized I did in fact want it rather badly, and I went to Old Navy to see if it might still be in the store (aka, clearance section). It wasn't, I searched eBay, but people on there sell stuff for ridiculous prices.. why would I buy it for $25 and then pay you $12 for shipping? I mean, really? So, I gave up on finding it. Then.. I walked into the Waco Plato's Closet a few weeks ago, and BAM, there it was in all of it's orange glory, in my size, for $6. That's my story for the day. Patience and thrifting people, it works.

I took off my rings so it wouldn't be as apparent that it was me in the photo. I've been having so much fun with all of these assignments, and every week I can't wait to get the next! This week is all about portraiture, so I'm pretty stoked!

First Vlog

Before we get to the whole vlog thing.. I wore my very first (sort of) outfit that included shorts for this spring. It's felt amazing here in Texas lately, and all I want to do is sit outside and soak it up. Actually, I might be soaking up some sun pretty soon.. I'm ridiculously pale.

Okay, so I think I'm a little crazy for doing this -- partially because my hair is LOCO during the entire video, and I really want to just re-record this whole thing later when I have normal looking hair.. but I'm resisting. This blog is all about being real, soo we'll just go with it, crazy hair and all.

I mashed my liebster nominations from Naomi at Patterned Love and Jenn's blog, With Luck, along with Inge's nomination for the Five Things About Me thing (you can check out her bog, This Ever Evolving Life here) and made it into a Vlog. Even though, if you haven't already watched the video, I'll explain that entire thing again.. ha.

Oranje + Silver Linings

Saturday's been pretty spectacular. I got to sleep in, ate some cookies for lunch (they're my weakness), Curtis and I went to Silver Linings Playbook, and we just got back from BJs for dinner. I'm kind of feeling a bit sick to my stomach, but I think it's because I drank cream soda, I'm not sure my stomach can handle that kind of sweet..but it's so delish! Anywho, if you haven't seen Silver Linings Playbook, I definitely recommend it. I went in knowing I wanted to see it (a la Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper, two of my absolute favorite actors), but not knowing exactly what it was about. I hadn't even seen the preview in a while. But, it's probably one of the best movies I've seen in a while (minus the Hobbit and Les Mis..but those are different). I'm going to buy it on DVD people, that's some serious lovin' from me. It definitely wasn't what I even had pictured..not that that was much, but it was amazing! There was definitely a few f-bombs dropped, but meh, I wasn't offended by it really. I won't give anything away though, you'll have to see it for yourself! Oh, and it's pretty long (2ish hours), but totally worth it. I wanted it to keep going, and I didn't even think about how long it was while I was watching it. I'm kind of a romantic, so if you're like me, this'll definitely be a movie for you!

And no, I didn't spell orange wrong on accident. That's how you spell it in Dutch {pronounced oh-rahn-yuh, I believe}. I'm such a nerd.

Here's what I wore:

I'm not too crazy about this top. I got it in a massive sale Old Navy was having over Christmas break, and I don't typically go for the color orange. It's actually my least favorite color (totally has nothing to do with the Texas Longhorns..{sarcasm}). But, I really liked this top because of the stripes. I love stripes, I'm semi-obsessed with stripes. I tried on two striped shirts yesterday, didn't get either of them because it was more than I wanted to spend, but I loved both of them. ..back to this shirt, the shoulders are weird though, like maybe mine are too broad for it. {side note, the beagles just started howling like crazy..one day I'll post a video of it on here, it's hilarious and adorable} I duno, but the shirt is comfy, so I'll keep on wearing it! Plus, it's nice to get out of my neutral comfort zone. And this bag, I bought it with a gift card last summer from Dillard's..it's probably been one of my absolute favorite purchases..ever. I debated between it and a Fossil bag (which wasn't leather btw), but it won out because it was leather and gorgeous. I can't afford Fossil leather bags..but if I could, I'd have one in a heart beat. It's held up really well though, and I love it more and more everyday.

I promise I'm not bow-legged or anything..I just stand like this a lot. I'm pretty awkward. 

Muggles wondering what on earth her mother is doing outside without her, and also, while I was taking photos, there were a ton of sirens going off (ambulances, police cars, firetrucks..the works), so she was freaking out a little bit. I have no clue what happened, but I hope everyone that was involved is okay.

Not very awesome like some of the videos I've seen on there, but I love it because it's like a GIF of the beagles, and the blinking cracks me up every time. If you haven't gotten a Vine account, it's pretty stinking cool. I'm hoping to use mine more often.
