Day 7: Holes in My Closet

Sunday's are always filled with mixed emotion. For one, it's Sunday, I get to go to church, eat some scrumptious foods (most of the time), take an awesome nap, pretend I don't actually have anything to study for for a few hours, and then bam.. it's five o'clock and I'm starting to worry about the fact that I have two tests at the end of the week, and one I'm not feelin' so hot about. Thank you awful economics class, I despise you. Seriously, that thing is awful. I'm going to need a miracle to do well in the class. Okay, so maybe I'm being a bit over dramatic, but I can honestly say, it's my least favorite class of all time. That's the truth, truth.

Anywho, I just wanted to direct y'all's attention over to a new page I've created. It's called Holes in My Closet, and my plan for it is to have some sense of direction when I'm shopping. There are always those items that seem to be missing from your closet, and you're not sure why, but you always forget to consider them while out shopping. Well not anymore ladies! I've got my list, and I'm sticking to it. I hope that it'll help me curb my spending on random items I don't really need {although, that'll probably still happen occasionally, and that's okay}. You can read all about it in the link above, and please, feel free to join me! I'm such a list person, it just makes sense for me to do something like this, so naturally, I'm pretty excited. I'll post about when I get a particular item and when I wear it for the first time on the ol' blog, and then link that post to the item on the list. I'd like to give credit where credit is due though, I kind of stole the idea from Franziska, you can check out her blog, Franish, here.

Here's what I wore this lovely Sunday morning and afternoon:
{although I did change into something more suitable for nap taking!}

I'm in love with that skirt. It's one of my favorite colors, it's a comfy material, and I don't have to worry about my skirt flying up every five seconds..which is just plain amazing. But, I must admit to you guys one thing, I'm pretty certain it's a maternity skirt. It's a medium, and it's just way too big for me. I have it folded over here, not to mention my belt is all that's holding it up. There is the possibility I actually needed a small, but I found it in the clearance section at Old Navy for 50% because it was an online only item someone had returned to the store. Oh, well, even if it is a maternity skirt, I will totally rock it when I start to have babies of my own {not happenin' for a while people..haha}. Oh, and do you recognize the top? It's from this post. Sneaky, sneaky, eh?

I can't not talk about my bag either..I want to take it everywhere with me. Did I mention I like burgundy/wine/maroon/oxblood? lol. It's my main school color, so I'm naturally drawn to it, but I was super excited when everything imaginable started coming out in that color. I got it for 50% off the regular price of $80, but that was still a bit pricey for me.. insert handy dandy Christmas gift card here, and it was completely free. Just the way I like it. I had originally been eyeing this, Rebecca Minkoff bag, but uhm..yeah, $350 is cray, so when I saw this one in the store, I was like OHMUHGOSH, I have to have it. It was meant to be you guys, meant to be.

What about you, do you like maxi skirts? And if you don't have one, would you be willing to give one a try? Oh, and did you partake in the wine/burgundy/maroon craze?

    1. Why thank ya, Jenna! :)

And yes, I really really do take all of my pictures with my iPhone and a tripod. If you're interested, I bought the tripod for $10 on amazon, just search for iPhone tripod, and it's the Case Star Octopus one! Mine's blue..hehe. It's been awesome, and it can wrap around stuff, so I can pretty much put it anywhere. Plus, I always take my photos outside in natural light (even if I do just do it on the front or back porch), so the photos turn out better. I tried taking a few inside one day while it was rainy, and even with all of the windows wide open and all the lamps on, it just wasn't the same. Oh, and if you have an iPhone (idk if it's on android phones), I use Snapseed to edit/crop the photos. It's a miracle worker! Plus, it was a free app.

And yayyy! Mint skinnies are the bestest! I can't wait to see them on you, girl! :)

  3. first of all, I didn't realize these were iphone pictures! who knew that the pictures could turn out so well! it's definitely working for you.

second of all, I like this out...a lot. I usually don't do maxi skirts (ok, any skirts) but now I want to find one just like this! it looks so comfy. I love it with that top.

third, I love that you made a list. I can't wait to see you fill those holes (man, that sounds kind of dirty). You'll have so much to work with!

    1. Thanks, Franziska! I have a Nikon D3000..but something's wrong with it at the moment, so I hope to get it fixed and have it up and running again soon. But, I am pretty content with the iPhone too. :)

And thank you, I used to hate hate hate skirts when I was younger..now, I want to wear them everyday. Even though, the whole wind + skirt/dress thing normally bugs the heck outta me.

hahah, I literally laughed out loud at filling my holes! ;)
      soo hilarious.

  4. i'm starting to think i'm the only style blogger in the world who is incapable of wearing a skirt over a dress. my skirts and dress waistlines never line up! i love these colors together/on you.

ooh, and i keep a running list in my phone of the pieces i'm looking for so that when i go to the store (target...f21...), i have it right in front of me. this helps me A. know what i'm looking for and B. not buy things that aren't on my list (sometimes?).

    1. We will find you a skirt/dress combo! I felt all tricksy with it on because people kept asking where I got my top from..and I was like, well, ya see, its a dress. And then they'd be like, oh my gosh, you're a genius! It was a tiny bit awesome.. ;)

I have kept a running list on my phone (I actually put this list on it too), but I'd never made a full on formal list that has EVERYTHING I could think of on there. I'm excited!
