Day 8: Befitting

This week's gonna be cray. I've got two exams, plus I'll be working on a group project at some point. So naturally, that means I'll end up doing a lot of procrastination, it's pretty much my middle name. That's right, my middle name is not in fact Nicole, it's Procrastination. Although, I do work better under pressure, so hopefully my enthusiasm for school kicks in sometime before Thursday at 11:30.

Oh, good news though, I'll be going home this weekend to take a much needed break from College Station, and to get my mind off of school..as in I'll be doing a ton of wedding stuff. A ton. I know I haven't spoken about it much, but I'll definitely be posting more about it in the coming weeks, as there will be so much going on. I'm having my second dress fitting on Friday, and my mum and I will be cramming as many other things we can think of in the two days I'll be home.

Here's what I wore on this chilly, grey day here in Texas:

So maybe I look like an old man, but hey, old men can have style too! I found that vest at the Salvation Army store about a year ago, and I've literally never worn it. I couldn't figure out what the heck to wear with it, and I knew whatever I did wear it with had to be perfect..or else I'd just look like I was wearing an awkward vest. Okay, maybe I still do look like I'm wearing an awkward vest, but I like my awkward vest!

My necklace (I know, it's kind of hard to see) is from Frankfurt, Germany. My cousin was in the Air Force, and got me lots of cool stuff in Europe while she was stationed there. This has to be one of my favorites though! It's got the Frankfurt Cathedral on it. German obsession duly noted, Kristina.

Also, I'd thought I'd write about a new favorite singer I've recently found (last night). His name is Paolo Nutini, and no, he's not Italian or American, he's Scottish. I know right, what? Scottish? But yes, he is, and his music is amazing, awesome, fantastic, wonderful, fabulous, straight thuggin'. Wait, not thuggin' but, hey, if you're into that adjective.. Anyway, you may have heard him before; the only song I had ever heard him sing was New Shoes, it was pretty popular in the early two-thousands I believe. But, I ran across his song, Jenny Don't Be Hasty, and I was hooked. He's got such an original, yet vintage (old school?) sound. Sometimes it's kind of rockish and alternative, then it's more folky and, for lack of better word, Scottish. Then he whips out jazz. Ah, I love it! I listened to an entire CD already, twice. You should check him out!

But, I thought it was pretty befitting for one of his songs to be my song of the post, since I am kickin' it old man style. Or maybe just Mumford & Sons style? Yes, I'll go with Mumford & Sons.

  2. What a great outfit, Kristina!! I'm obsessed with those oxfords...they look SO comfy! And they're so cute! Oh and I love the gingham button up! I <3 gingham. And I cannot WAIT to hear more about your wedding! I'm still years away from getting married (not my choice. ugh) so I'm glad that I get to see someone close to my age getting married! EEK so happy for you!! Jealous, yes, but extremely happy :)

  4. i'm dying over this outfit. speaking of holes in my closet, all of the gingham button downs and a good pair of oxfords. you're killin' it in that vest.

i was all about paolo nutini in the early 2000s! i'm not sure if you've ever listened to landon pigg, but i think you would like him too. i used to put them on mix cds together, so in my mind they are BFFs.

  8. I'm spending my sick day creeping through your 30x30--that's normal, right--and this is so far my favorite outfit. I just bought a gingham button down from Forever21, and I'm anxious to style it... now that I'm seeing that vest, I know exactly what I need... but my own challenge of not shopping this entire month is on! No!! I'll have to remember this come April. :)

    1. Uhhhm, yes! Creeping is completely normal, it's pretty much what I do on a daily basis, ha! But, thank you, glad I could give ya some awesome gingham inspiration. Oh, and I may have failed miserably at the whole no shopping thing.. self-control, I don't have it ;)
