Skirts & Such

Honestly, I love skirts. I hadn't realized it until earlier this year, but I really do. I've got quite a collection already, and all I want to do is find more to add to it. Although, before this blog, it was hard to justify purchasing a skirt, but I sort of made the decision that I'm just going to wear skirts whenever I feel like it. Even though every time I do wear a skirt, I get asked why I'm wearing one, I'm on a mission to change the world. Just like hats, I wish we could go back to a time when it was completely normal to wear skirts and dresses everyday. Don't get me wrong, I do love a good day in my favorite pair of blue jeans, but there's something about a skirt.

I literally love everything about this outfit. Chambray, obviously it's a clear favorite; bright pleated skirt that is actually long enough to not feel like you're about to flash everyone, yes please; comfortable flats that I wish I could wear every single day? Yep, got those too. It may be simple, but it's my kind of outfit. Oh, and this skirt is another one of my Austin finds from a few weeks ago. I wore this to my bachelorette party (before I knew what was going on), and even though I changed later, I would've been completely happy just wearing this.

My bachelorette party was lots of fun. They snuck me away to Austin/San Marcos, we went to eat at a swanky restaurant downtown, then we walked around for a bit, listening to some cool bands, then proceeded to have a night full of fun girliness. It was like a big slumber party, something my friends and I haven't gotten to have in such a long time, I loved it. Then, Saturday morning, they took me horseback riding, I was jumping for joy the entire way there (not literally jumping.. seeing as that probably wouldn't be safe inside a car..or on a horse for that matter). My horse's name was Snickers, and Snickers liked to try and eat everything possible, it was kind of ridiculous, but hey.. sounds kind of like my beagle, so it fit. On the way back, most of us stopped at IKEA and had loads and loads of fun looking around and pretending we were sleeping on the beds and couches just to see what other people would do.. that place is stinking awesome.

Hope you ladies had a great weekend. Most of my weekends from now until the wedding are jam packed with things to do. I'm hoping I can survive..haha.

  1. I get so annoyed when people are constantly asking me what I'm dressing up for, just because I'm dressed decently. It's called class, people.

    1. Yessss. I will completely condone you buying seven more. I love them so so much, and I have my eye on a couple more. But, I'm trying not to give in for a while -- probably won't work, but hey, I try.

It was so much fun! I wish I had taken more pictures, but sadly, I've only got a few.

  6. I feel ya on the skirts-love; after years of just not getting why anyone would wear a skirt when jeans were in the picture, I've done a 180 and can't get enough. My collection is... out of control at this point. Oops? Glad you had a fun weekend! Horseback riding sounds great.

  11. Love this! I especially love the color of the skirt, so bright and cheery! That color makes me smile and looks great on you. (And I'm with you, I love a good skirt-though two little ones underfoot don't make them terribly practical...but, still, I love them!)

    1. Thanks, Jessi. I'm bound and determined to make people (okay..maybe just my family and friends) understand that wearing skirts and dresses doesn't mean I'm going out somewhere. It just means..that's what I wanted to wear that day! ha
