Don't Look Now

As I was going through the pictures for this post.. I realized in all of the good photos, I wasn't looking at the camera. In the ones where I did actually look, it was either really out of focus or my hair was doing some crazy. Probably because it was way too windy to even be taking outfit photos, and also because I was trying to squeeze them in between my Lingerie Party and dinner with Curtis. I'm tellin' ya, I can't take outfit photos if I'm in a rush.. they always turn out really awkward. So, sorry for not looking at you guys in most of my photos, I promise those smiles I'm smiling are for y'all! :)

Like I mentioned above, I had my lingerie party this weekend, it's the last of all of my bridal parties.. whew, there have been so many! It was a small affair, but I enjoyed it so much. This is the outfit I wore, I wanted to keep it classy, but somewhat casual as well. I've only worn this skirt once before (you can find that here), but I wish I could wear it every day! It's such a good length, and I'm absolutely in love with the color. If there's one thing I seriously lack in my closet, it's color, and I'm striving to avoid buying clothing articles in neutral tones and go for some in colors that make me happy. I paired the skirt with a top that I've had for quite sometime, but I just hadn't gotten around to wearing. It's one of those blouses that looks much better tucked in, so I'm going to have to figure out a way to wear it with pants. It has a fun button detail on the back that I wish I had remembered to photograph, but maybe next time!

I'm planning on writing a rather long blog post/rant sometime later this week or maybe next week about blogging and what it means to me.. along with some other opinionated views on blog criticism. I won't go into too many details, but let's just say, I found some things that made me sit down and think for a moment (okay, way longer than a moment) last week, and I'd like to share it with y'all. I'm also doing another vlog.. so you know, be ready for that..ha.

I did a little Q&A post for Alexandra of Beautiful in God's Eyes, that y'all should go check out. Alexandra's blog is so inspiring and has amazing photography, and even though I haven't been following long.. I know I'll enjoy getting caught up on all things Alexandra! Hope you're having a lovely Monday ladies!

ps. What do y'all think about the new layout? I'm going to try and create a new header at some point. But, I just wanted your opinion, do you think it makes everything look too cluttery? I moved some of the tabs at the top over to the sidebar, is that too confusing? Lemme know!

  7. this is easily the prettiest way i've ever seen anyone pair black and gold. the coral gives the neutrals and metallics life. you honestly look like a little manequinne from a boutique in austin. that belt is the cutest ever and really pulls the shoes and the piping on the shirt together.

ahhh i love this so much i can't handle it.

My boyfriend calls that looking away from the camera moodily thing "the fashion blogger pose". We all do it!

  15. I love your skirt!! This is my favorite color at the moment. AAAAAAND it has pockets?! Perfect skirt :)

I'm have same shopping strategy as you right now. I'm not allowing myself to even LOOK at neutral colored items unless they are white or cream. I have way too many dark neutral items and I'd really like to change that. One article at a time...

  16. You look so beautiful! I don't mind that you're not looking in the camera. I rarely do so, but I'm trying. It's just a little awkward, haha. Even after nearly three years of blogging.

What's a lingerie party for? I think I'm currently imagining the completely wrong thing, haha. Here in Belgium, brides don't host any parties really. Except for bachelorette parties, and those don't include lingerie. Normally. Haha.

Lokking forward to see more of your lovely style. Going to press that Follow button now ;-) xo Nikki

    1. Hahah, here in the States we have lingerie parties (although, they definitely aren't a requirement) with our bridesmaids and close friends, and they buy the bride lingerie and all that fancy stuff.

      Thanks deary! :)

  17. Still in love with that skirt from your last outfit with it! And this outfit is perfection.

Girl, you are having so many wedding festivities! My bridal shower is this weekend! And how was the lingerie party? Everyone is trying to get me to have one before the bachelorette party but I'm just like ehhh that makes me feel awkward!!

    1. Hahaha, it was kind of awkward.. but because I didn't have too many people there, it made it less awkward. I'm pretty shy about all of that too, so if I can do it, you can do it! ;)

  18. I love your skirt - coral and pockets?! Can't go wrong, there, Missy!! I have a problem with too many neutrals, too...I used to dress in technicolor, but lately have been drawn to mostly neutrals. I'm trying to pick out some more colorful pieces when I shop these days.

I'm super excited to hear your thoughts about blogging and negative criticism. You are always so insightful and I love reading what you have to say. And a vlog!? YES!!!

    1. Okay, I recorded my vlog last night, and then it deleted itself! I was so so angry. So, it might have to be re-recorded next week after finals, but it'll be up.. at some point ;)
