A Weekend to Remember

Well, if you follow me on any of my social media outlets (or have read my recent posts), you'll know that this past weekend was the Texas A&M vs. Alabama football game here in College Station. You'll also know that I'm way too in love with football to even shut up about it for longer than five minutes. We may not have won the football game, but boy, did I have a fun weekend!

It started off with Curt's parents coming down to celebrate his birthday on Friday. We went "tent sale" shopping for some new Aggie gear, ate out at a local BBQ restaurant, opened presents, and had delicious homemade chocolate cake. We then made our way over to Midnight Yell (click the link if you wanna know more about my school's awesome tradition), where we stood outside Kyle Field.. trying to figure out why on earth we couldn't get into the stadium, with about 4000 other people, mind you. We finally made it in, only to realize that 40,000 other people had somehow beat us inside. Basically, 45,000-50,000 Aggies showed up for this, something I have honestly never ever seen at Midnight Yell. It was crazy, the air was so electric, we were all so pumped up for the biggest game in A&M history. Gosh, I love this school.

The next morning, we woke up and headed over to campus to check out College Gameday, hosted by ESPN. We were all pretty exhausted from the night before, but ready to have some fun! We saw some famous Aggies, Gene Stallings and RC Slocum, who Curt's dad and uncle about fainted over when we realized who we were all standing near. It was pretty hilarious. Our backs even made national television! Hah. It was a cool experience, although, Gameday hasn't brought us any luck, so if they could just not come next year.. that'd be great, lol. Just joking!

We went back home to eat lunch and pick up the rest of the crew before the game began, and I decided to leave my camera at home. I knew I'd be jumping around and yelling at the top of my lungs while surrounded by a billion other people, so I didn't want to worry about my camera getting trampled. But, I still took pictures with my iPhone, of course. The game itself was absolutely crazy. The emotion in the stadium when our team came out of the tunnel was off the charts, and even though it was hot, we yelled our hearts out. During this play, everyone went absolutely positively BERZERK. You can actually hear it in the video. I mean, Curtis literally threw me in the air! Even though we lost, our team fought to the bitter, bitter end, and it was one heck of a ride. My absolute favorite game at Kyle Field ever, and there have been some really good ones.

All-in-all, it was a fantastic weekend. Wish we coulda won, but we came dang close! I love my Ags, and am so incredibly proud to be a Fightin' Texas Aggie. It all went by in a blur, but that just makes me appreciate the moments even more. Not everyone gets to experience these things, and I'm so blessed to be apart of such an amazing university here at A&M. Hope you guys enjoyed my little football rant.. Have an awesome Monday!

August according to Instagram

Hi. Hello. Aloha. Bonjour. Hallo. Howdy.

I'm truly sorry I haven't been blogging.. part of me wants to, and then sleep typically takes over or I just don't even think about it at all. It's been one crazy month, but I'll give you the short version right now... then actually posts about all this later. I miss you guys. Thanks, Danielle for commenting and saying you missed me, it truly meant the world to me and just so you know.. I miss you, too!

Kay, let's explain the pictures above.
  • After I finished my second session of summer school at the beginning of August, there was a lot of laziness in the Ross household. Exhibit A, Muggles the laziest beagle of them all.
  • Like I mentioned in my last post (from three weeks ago..ouch), I took a trip to Dallas with my parents for a bit of back-to-school shopping. It was lots of fun, and a much needed break from College Station!
  • Curt and I visited the George Bush (the first one) Presidential Library on a whim. I've never been and seeing as I pass it to go to school most days, I thought that was pretty sad for having lived here for three years and never taking the time to visit. It was extremely interesting and I really enjoyed getting to know the history of the Bush family!
  • My favorite edition to my closet has to be my new elephant shirt, which I wore when we went to the Bush Library!
  • Curtis and I took a long weekend to Galveston with his parents. It was lots of fun! We swam in the ocean, ate lots of delicious seafood, took a ghost tour, and had a nice relaxing break for our mini-break from school.
  • I chopped off about 7 inches of my hair, and I'm loving it! Although.. it does get greasier faster. Super annoying. Could be the constant 100* weather too though.
  • I had a period where I walked the beagles on campus every evening for a few days. I love walking past Kyle Field.. and am super-de-duper excited for football season! Gig 'em!
  • School started last Monday.. luckily, I only have it four days a week! :)
  • Like I mentioned above, I'm super excited for football season (I can rant and rant forever about it), so Curtis thought it'd be fun to go to a radio show for dinner. Our head coach was there talking, we had awesome food, but there were awkwardly loud drunk people too.. not so fun.
  • I'm taking a digital photography class this semester, and I could not be more excited. I've just finished my first assignment, woot.
  • Saturday we played our first football game. It wasn't pretty on the defensive side. It definitely didn't have a lack of controversy around it. But, I loved every second of it.. even if I thought I might pass out from the heat at certain points. Oh, and I love Johnny Football, ESPN can shove it.
  • Curtis and Muggles doin' some homework.
Have a great week lovelies! You can follow me on Instagram @kristina_ross14.

Day 18: Fly Away

Okay, honestly, I can't even remember what day I'm on anymore.. I have to look back at the day before every single time I start typing up a post. Almost to the end though, I'm excited..just because I've come up with so many ideas for outfits with clothes that aren't in my 30x30, and also because I kind of can't wait until I don't have to take pictures of myself every single day. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy showing y'all my outfits, but everyday..not so much. Not to say I won't be doing it anymore after I'm done with my challenge, it just won't be every day. Plus, I've come up with some awesome ideas for different kinds of posts, and I can't wait to start putting them up. But the 30x30 is an excellent way to get a style blog kick started for those of us that just recently got into the whole bloggin' business.

Today I decided to get adventurous and take some photos on campus, as I was walking to my car to go home mind you. I say adventurous, I mean that I was probably as far away from people as I could possibly get without going completely out of my way to do so. There were a few people that passed by here and there, one girl completely surprised me and probably wondered what on earth I was doing taking pictures of myself behind a fountain...actually no, I know she was thinking I was crazy because the look on her face said it all, haha. Oh well.

I wore my pink skinnies..again. I feel like I've worn them much more than I originally thought I would when I first started this challenge, which is a good thing, ya? Although, I wore them on Thursday last week too, so people that only see me on Thursday probably are starting to think they're the only jeans I own..acca-awkward. Dear Thursday people, I actually own way too many jeans, don't judge me for my fushia wearing Thursdays.

Don't judge my facial expression..it's the only picture of me standing up that came out semi-well, or one with my face in it at least.

Yes, that would be an eagle statue behind me. And the other rather large structure in some of the other pictures would be Kyle Field. It's not football season right now..but come August, you probably won't get me to shut up about football, don't hate me too much. I love Aggie football you guys. Loooooooooove it. Like, more than a girl probably should. It makes me a teenie bit obnoxious. I get mouthy and ridiculous during games. I throw tiny tantrums when we're awful. I yell. I scream. I jump up and down like a mad woman when we're good (or bad, doesn't matter). I stand through the entire game (although, that's kind of a tradition here at Texas A&M, you can read about it here), our entire student body stands the whole game.. the whole three or four hours, yes, we are cray cray, and we love it.  Honestly, at this point I'm not sure how people don't stand up during games. But, don't say I didn't warn you come August/September.

Oh, and if you follow me on instagrammy, you'll know I posted a picture of some scary looking rain clouds. They went away as quickly as it took me to take that picture. Seriously, it's sunny and beautiful today. Hence the sunglasses.

Hope y'all have a swell Thursday! I've got a surprise for ya tomorrow, so you won't be seeing my Friday outfit until Saturday!

Song of the Post: Sunday Best by Augustana

Rough, tough, real stuff.

So, I'm in college. I absolutely love my school (sometimes, probably too much), and I love college football, especially when it comes to my Texas Aggies. Last night, Curtis, his parents, and I attended the 77th annual Cotton Bowl in Arlington, Texas. We went two years ago, before the Aggies had moved to the SEC, and played LSU. It was pretty terrible, after what we thought was an amazing season, so I was hoping and praying this Cotton Bowl didn't end up like the last.

I won't say I had complete confidence in my Ags. But we have something special growing here, and I just couldn't not believe in them. We left the Big XII Conference last year, and everyone in the entire country said we would fail. "We were a middle of the road Big XII team, so that meant we would be an end of the pack SEC team." Let me just say, the tears of all the haters taste so so sweet. We went 11-2, beating the No. 1 team in the nation at the time, Alabama in Tuscaloosa, our quarterback, Johnny Manziel won the Heisman Trophy, as a redshirt freshman (watch the video, its pretty awesome), and we proved absolutely everyone in the country, and especially in the Big XII, wrong last night with a 41-13 victory over the Oklahoma Sooners. What's even better, one of our bitter rivals, the Texas Longhorns, yeah, they're pretty much awful right now, and I'm definitely okay with that.

I just couldn't be more excited for the future, and what it holds for our football program. I'm praying some of the juniors, I'm talking to you Luke Joekel and Jake Matthews, stay for their senior year, rather than opting to the NFL draft, but that could just be a pipe dream, seeing as Damontre Moore has already declared. But, I am so thankful for this year's team, and this year's seniors. For shaking off the past, especially last season, and creating something brand new, something that was all their own. To Kevin Sumlin, our head coach, who is in his first season with us, thank you for pumping those boys up, and getting them fired up in a way that past coaches haven't been able to do. Thank you for sticking up for them and our university in August at Media Day, when all of the reporters constantly asked questions about last year's performances with questions like, "how do you expect A&M to stack up against Alabama, LSU, and Florida, when they couldn't get it done in the Big XII for so long?"

Thank you, thank you, thank you. This has been one heck of a season, and I cannot wait until next year. As always, we'll miss the seniors, those underclassmen have some big shoes to fill, but I have faith in Kevin Sumlin, Johnny Football, and the rest of the Fighin' Texas Aggies. For as the title of my post says, we're made of rough, tough, real stuff. We're Texas A&M.

I'll end my football rant with some pictures of my experience at the Cotton Bowl last night. It was so much fun, ahh, I LOVE AGGIE FOOTBALL! Gig 'em, Ags!

Dallas Cowboy's Stadium. It's kind of ridic.

The Fightin' Texas Aggie Band!

God Bless America! Oh, and the guys singing where pretty legit.
We're cute and cold.
Still cute, not cold anymore! Thank you indoor stadium!
