Oh hai.

Sorry for the lack of posting, I've seriously had overload central going on lately, which means no blogging. Although, there are definitely times where I have so many ideas running through my head.. and then other times, like now, were I have no clue what to post about. I haven't been taking outfit photos, August in Texas does not mean the end of summer, it means whatever you do.. don't go outside, and please, please, please don't let your air conditioner go out or you may just die. I was happy that the highs were going to be in the mid-90's the other day, but then that was ruined by a heat index of 106, so yeah, no, outfit photos, sorry guys. PS - I hate summer.

I did make a trip to Dallas this past weekend with the padres while Curtis was busy studying for his final, and I'm pretty content with my shopping haul. I stuck to my guns and only bought tops {and one pair of shoes, sorry, I can't stay away from them}! Plus, a ton of stuff for around the house at IKEA. I've got one more final to go in my statistics class and then this summer session is over.. oh, and I suffered my way through Public Speaking and I couldn't be more pleased that it's all over now! ha. But, the real deal starts back up in a couple of weeks.. not too excited, but it'll be much easier knowing I got 3 courses out of the way this summer. Oh, and the fall semester is always my favorite because it means football is here! Our first game is barely over two weeks away and I'm pretty ecstatic about the season {just no one mention Johnny Football, I'm tired of hearing about his autograph}.

Anyway, here's a few photos from the weekend!

1. View of the Dallas skyline as we were driving in. I'm not gonna lie, I much prefer Dallas to Houston. First, my favorite baseball team plays a few miles west of there in Arlington {woo Rangers!}. Second, its not awful and humid like Houston. Third, it has a funky vibe in certain areas.. not as much as Austin, of course, but still pretty cool. Fourth, the traffic isn't quite as crazy as Houston, a city in which I literally was clutching the steering wheel for dear life when I first drove in the chaos they call 5 o'clock traffic. Fifth, did I mention the lack of intense humidity?

2. Some storm clouds were rolling in after our trip to IKEA, so naturally I whipped out my iPhone to snap a picture.. I took my camera on the trip, but I got kind of lazy and didn't feel like taking it out ever.

3. We ate at my absolute favorite restaurant, Razzoo's. Seriously, I need more Cajun in my life. Aka, College Station or Waco, build a freakin' Razzoo's.

4. First trip of the morning on Saturday we went to Buffalo Exchange, where I found this awesome American Apparel dress, but alas, it fit really oddly in the back.. which of course made it not fit at all in the bosom section. I was so disappointed you guys.. The joys of boobs, they truly aren't all they're cracked up to be. I did get that dotted tee though, seeing as I can't get enough of polka dots lately.

Also, if you'll notice my Beatles phone case my lovely husband found for me. I've been wanting one forrrrreeeeverrrr, but was not gonna pay $25 for one. He found it at Target on clearance for $7.50. Yay for husbands that pay attention! hehe

How was everyone's weekend?

xo,
Kristina

A Weekend to Remember

Sorry I've been a bit MIA for the past few days, but my weekend was JAM-PACKED with wedding festivities. Friday, I had dinner at a Mediterranean restaurant in my hometown that I hadn't been to since high school (I think, I may have gone once since then) with some of my closest friends. We definitely had enough time to talk since it took almost an hour to get our food to us.. they were busy, it was crazy.

Saturday, Curtis and I did some marriage counseling for three and a half hours..lol, don't worry it's only because we haven't been able to go at all during our engagement and we're trying to cram it all in. Then, it was off to get ready for my Bridal Tea, which was amazing. Seriously, so fancy, but so much fun! In the theme of the weekend, of course.. we had to have a Bridal Shower on Sunday! I guess you could say my weekend was busy, ha! But it was so much fun! It's so awesome to know that you have such an amazing support group and church family that you can turn to in times of need because they love you so so much. But, I'm going to save actual stories about all of this for later this week, along with pictures.

No worries, no beagles were harmed in this process.

Going home Friday, I'll be honest, I was pretty nervous as to how the weekend was going to go. I'm not the type of girl that enjoys being the center of attention, and this weekend was all about me. But, I have to say it exceeded my expectations, I am glad it's Monday though.. I've stayed in bed most of the day, and have decided that might be what I do for the rest of the day. Although, I've got to figure out what I'm going to do about food at some point.

I'll let y'all in on a little secret, the only reason my cardigan is buttoned-up is because while I was getting tea at lunch, the spout it came out of sprayed all over the bottom of my white shirt..lame. I wore this to dinner with my besties, even got a compliment on my $7 cardigan. I've found it kind of hard to wear, and it's definitely one of those pieces I probably could've done without, but I bought it because it was seven bucks. Casual Friday did get me ready for a weekend full of dresses and curled hair though!

Hope y'all had a fantastic weekend.

Weekend Recap

Okay, the bridal showers is plural, I only had one, but there will be another one in the near future!

Friday night was a pretty relaxed evening in with the boy. We grilled some delish turkey burgers, and then I made white chocolate covered popcorn to snack on while we watch Cabin in the Woods.. yeah, it was really weird, and I didn't pick it, haha.

Muggles wanting some popcorn and cookies..
Sunday was the day of my bridal shower, I'm not the biggest fan of being the center of attention, but I still enjoyed it a ton. I got lots of lovely things, and it was so fun being surrounded by close friends and family. My aunt, cousin, and grandmother hosted it at my grandmother's house, so it was a pretty quiet affair.

All-in-all it was a great weekend. I am so blessed!
Have a fantastic Tuesday ladies.

Getting to Know You Weekend Blog Hop

Hey everyone! I'm co-hosting a weekend blog hop this week with Christina from her blog, Spilled Milkshake, and Lisa from her blog Insignificant at Best. I couldn't believe it when they told me I'd be their featured blogger this week, and I happily agreed to co-host their blog hop. Here's my little "getting to know me" profile that will be featured this weekend on the Getting to Know You Weekend Blog Hop. I hope you all go give it a looksie.

Welcome to the Getting to Know You Weekend Blog Hop. This week we Getting to Know Kristina from Kristina in Retroworter!

Howdy everyone! I’m Kristina, and you can typically find me spending some quality time over at my blog, Kristina in Retroworter. I’m a Texas girl, with big dreams, and an even bigger, or I should say taller, fiancĂ©, Curtis. He’s about a foot taller than me, and really good for grabbing those plates off the top shelf in the kitchen! We’re high school sweethearts, and after almost seven years of dating, we will be getting married this coming May! We also have two adorable beagles, Muggles and Skywalker (we’re pretty nerdy, what can we say), who are basically the much furrier version of children to us, both of which you'll see an abundance of on my blog.
I created my blog as an inspiring outlet for myself, a girl obsessed with history, crafty projects, and all things international, who happens to be stuck in a business school environment, and also, as a way to document my personal style, my thrifty finds, my ever-growing relationship with Christ, and the daily life I lead. After reading so many blogs over the years, I finally decided to make my own and see where it would take me. I’ve really enjoyed it so far, and I am excited for what the future has in-store for my little ol’ blog.¬¬¬
Outside of the blogging world, you can usually find me studying, reading a good book, or spending some quality time with Curtis, our beagles, and our families. Oh, or catching up on my ever growing list of television shows, the DVR is way too addicting y’all. But, I adore blogging, and I have already met so many fabulous people, so don’t be too shy and stop on by anytime, I’d love to hear from you.
