I've really been in the mood to travel lately. Actually, I've been in this mood for quite sometime. I haven't left Texas since I was 13, that's semi-embarrassing for me to say.. everyone around me seems to be going somewhere all the time. Sure, I've done stuff here in Texas, and don't get me wrong, I love this state. It's huge, meaning you can drive for three hours and still not be out of it, but the scenery around you has changed immensely. Sometimes I think about how people must feel living in smaller states, where you're able to drive an hour or less and be in a new state, that's kind of crazy to me.. But then again, I am from the middle of Texas, so traveling to Oklahoma and Louisiana takes some time; don't even talk about making it to New Mexico. Fun fact, did you know that if I lived in El Paso (very west Texas) I'd be closer to California than my hometown here in Texas. That's insane.

I will get a bit of travel fix come May, Curtis and I are going on a cruise to Jamaica, the Grand Cayman Islands, and Cozumel for our honeymoon. I've never been on a cruise before, so I'm pretty stoked. And no, I'm not scared to go on a cruise, I don't really think they'll let another ship break down..haha. But, I really do hope we travel more once we've got real jobs. He knows traveling means a lot to me, just because I haven't gotten to do it as much as I would've liked to growing up. I did more than some people I know, and got to spend an entire month in New York with my aunt and uncle, which was awesome. But, I've always loved the idea of new places, new people, and new cultures. This is probably just a big ramble with nowhere to go, but I think I'm going to try to save more for trips. Not that I have a whole lot to save anyway, but I'm going to make an effort to make my dreams become a reality -- and hopefully be able to share my adventures with you guys on this blog.
Anyway, here's my twenty-second day of 30x30, eight more! I can almost here my closet calling my name again, not to mention thrifty thrift shops, Target, and Forever 21 (or at least the jewelry section).
I thought of this outfit when I first started the challenge, but the first time I tried it on, I didn't like something about it. Honestly, I have no clue what I didn't like about it then, but I love it now! I really wanted to button up my collar all the way, but the neck in the sweater is too wide..oh well, I like it this way, it's nice and relaxing, even if I was sweating in class this morning. Coffee and three hundred people surrounding you in an auditorium classroom will do that to ya.
What about y'all? Do you want to travel anywhere in particular, or have you gone anywhere really awesome recently? Try not to make me too jealous!

Song of the Post: On My Own -- Les Miserables
This looks like such a cozy outfit. Love it!! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine living in such a HUGE state! I mean Pennsylvania isn't exactly tiny, but I can be in Maryland in about 45 minutes and be on a beach in Delaware in about 3 hours. OH! and when I'm at school (like right now..) I am 5 minutes from Ohio and an hour from West Virginia! I LOVE traveling too, although I too am so broke so hopefully Matt and I get to do a lot of traveling after we're married and before we have kids!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like SUCH a fun honeymoon! You guys are gonna have a great time :) I can't wait to see all the pictures! Matt and I are already planning our Disney World honeymoon...2.5 years ahead of time. we're weirdos, I know.
OH and this outfit. Perfection. Those jeans? UBER PERFECTION. I NEED THEM. LIKE NOW.

Haha, see! That's what I mean! From where I am now, I'm still 3 hours away from Louisiana, give or take a little. When I was in NY, we'd go to Connecticut and New Jersey for day trips (even Canada for the weekend..though we took a plane for that), but not here.
DeleteAnd thanks, we're super excited. Texas does have ports..aka, cruises are easy to get to here :) Y'all aren't weirdos for planning ahead, Curtis and I have had so many ideas thrown out there for forever.
These are my absolute favorite jeans..ever. I want more of them, so that when these get old, I won't have to be sad. Is that weird? ;)
I adore your sweater!! And love your shoes, I love oxfords!
ReplyDeleteThanks Inge :)
Deleteok, BEST sweater ever!!!!!! And love the color combo :D
ReplyDeleteI've been filled with Wanderlust too lately - fortunately I'm going to be in CA for 11 days starting this week, and some other travel plans are also in my future. So I won't have to wait too long!
ReplyDeleteThis outfit. SO SO perfect. I love the shoes, jeans (love how they're rolled up), and the sweater and shirt combo. super lovely.
Also. On my own. SUCH A GOOD SONG.
Thanks, girlie! :)
DeleteJealous that you'll be makin' your way over to Cali, I've always wanted to go! And yes, On My Own..amazing amazing song.
Woohoo eight more girl you got this! I can't wait to see what you come up with :)
ReplyDeleteI love the way you styled this sweater, the top under is such a pretty pop of color.
Danke, Grace :)
DeleteI know..I'm so excited to almost be done! yaya!
this post resonates with me so hard. until two years ago, i'd never been to another state. then i took a road trip to wisconsin and drove through like 11, but i didn't get to *do* anything in any of the states except WI. when i was 11, i flew by myself to thailand to see my aunt and uncle, but they are orthodox jews, so the adjustments had more to do with them than the country. i would LOVE to go to countries in latin america someday and england too, when i have a real job and can afford it and stuff. it's awesome that Curtis wants to travel with you!

Ahh, I've always wanted to take a road trip straight up I-35! I'd just keep driving, past the exit I take to my parental's casa, on up to somewhere new..I've thought about that more than a few times actually, lol.
DeleteThat's crazy that you went to Thailand by yourself! I flew back from NYC by myself, and the flight attendant thought my aunt was my mom, that my parents were divorced, and that I was going to visit my dad in Dallas. Awkward? Hah.
I'd love to travel all over Europe..literally all over the place. I've got too many countries and places on my list. But definitely Latin America as well! I soooo want to go to Mexico City (I've been obsessed since Spanish class in 9th grade), but it's just so dangerous right now :/
Your honeymoon trip sounds really fun - I wanna go too! ;o)
ReplyDeleteTehe, thanks Lisa :)
DeleteWha-wha-what -- there are parts of Texas that are closer to California than other parts of Texas? *Insert spit take* As an east coaster, that is literally the craziest thing I've ever heard! If you've got wanderlust, I totally recommend taking a local-ish thrift store tour. I used to do it all the time when I lived with roommates with cars... it's a good way to explore beyond your normal reaches, plus, I love thrifting so naturally I think it's a blast. I really love this look, too -- I looove those shoes. It seems like we always have shoe envy of each other!

Haha, yes indeed, there are! I can imagine that being pretty foreign to east coast peeps, all of those states jam-packed into an area probably smaller than Texas itself.
DeleteThat's a fabulous idea Lily, I might have to make a trip sometime soon. Spring break is coming up pretty quick, hopefully I'll have time to squeeze some fun in with all of the wedding planning/showers. Lord knows I'm going to need some relaxation time from that craziness.
Luv the shoes, Kristina!
ReplyDeleteThe vacation sounds awesome! How long will the cruise be?
Thank you, Lisa! :)
DeleteWe'll be gone for seven days!
I'm loving that bold green under the cream sweater - such a simple and chic look!

A cruise is a super way to get your travel fix! I'm a little jelly, ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm coming in late to your 30 x 30, but I like what I see. Forever 21 will be there waiting for you when you're done. Their jewelry section is rather like discovering a pirate's treasure trove...all glittery and sparkly.
Thanks for visiting my blog and taking the time to comment.
