Day 14: Back to Normal

Yesterday was tons of fun. The talent show, which was actually more of a sing and dance type of thing, was awesome. We didn't stay the entire time..it was rather long, and my buttocks did not like those seats. But my friend, Denise, was amazing! She had a solo and everything, I'm so proud. It's Sunday..once again, and I've got to get back into the groove of things, not excited, but this was definitely the break I needed.

I took these photos on the way back to College Station, in a tiny town named, Calvert. It has a row of shops that always look so vintage and adorable (my style for sure), so I decided to stop and take my photos for this fourteenth day of my 30x30 challenge. Almost halfway there, I'm ready to have my closet back..I miss it you guys. I took the pictures behind the shops, out of the way of the watchful eyes of passersby on the highway. Although, there was a car that passed by twice..either they were lost or just trying to figure out what I was doing, I'm gonna go with the latter, I don't think many exciting things happen in Calvert.

Muggles has a problem with taking pictures. She's scared of my DSLR, so I figured she'd be able to handle my iPhone..it only works if she doesn't know she's having her photo taken, otherwise, forget about it, won't happen. But, what can I say, she is a beagle, and she really wanted to explore once I got her out of the car. I think she'll enjoy our roadside adventures if I do this more often, there's a mural wall I spotted on my way out, gotta hit it up sometime.

Anyway, I love this blouse, it's so comfortable, but it has a more put together look than a tee. I'm definitely going to get some more if I find a good sale at Old Navy again. Oh, and that belt is really cool, even if it is a little too big, I'm glad I finally got to wear it and show it off with a tucked in shirt. Hope y'all are enjoying the last bit of weekend we've got. I'm glad to be back with Curt (even if I haven't seen him yet..he's studying on campus), even though it's only been two days, I missed him! Good thing we'll be living together soon, I'm tired of being apart.

How was y'all's weekend? Did ya do anything fun?!

Day 10: Chilly

Howdy all! I currently have a little brown beagle girl staring at me as I type this, and she's making low grumbling noises at me to get my attention. Pretty soon she'll be pawing my leg, or she'll just get tired of me not paying attention to her and fall asleep on the floor beneath me. I'm not sure why I just told y'all that, but Muggles is too cute to ignore altogether..so I'll just type about her instead of giving into her beagle mind tricks.

I hope you guys are having a great Wednesday, mine's been good so far..there's just something about wearing a dress, it makes me happier! Honestly, I think I'll start collecting more skirts and day dresses because I just love 'em. I've never been much of a girly girl, which is probably why I feel more comfortable in neutral colors {and blue, I own toooo much blue}. But, dresses and skirts have me wrapped around their non-existent fingers now-a-days. I'm so glad I put a couple of dresses in my 30x30 challenge, it's making me think of new ways to wear a dress, rather than just sticking a belt around my waist and walking out the door, I'm coming up with different combinations. It's awesome.

It was quite chilly this morning, so chilly that I had to throw on some gloves and my tartan scarf. I had begun to believe winter, if you can call it that here, had gone away for good. But, I'm sure I could've worn this on a spring day as well, that sweater is not very good at keeping me warm. When I was taking these photos, all I wanted to do was put my trench back on. I like the color combo though, and those tights are my favorite, navy is such a great color.

If you were interested, Muggles has made her way into my lap. I'm a sucker for beagle..well, beagle everything.

Tomorrow, I have a fun post planned for Valentine's Day. Curt and I aren't really big Valentine's people. Never have been, and I'm thinking that means we won't ever be. And, he's leaving to go back to our hometown tomorrow night..while I stay here and study for my exam on Friday, boo. But, I am making him a cute little card. It's nerdy with a bit of science thrown in, definitely his style. I'll probably throw in some cookies too. The boy loves his cookies.

How about you guys? What are your plans for V-Day?

Oh! And I wanted to let everyone know about an AMAZING giveaway that Sarah, over at Total Basset Case, is having. I found her blog earlier today through a link up, I clicked on the link because of the basset hound, as you all know..I've got a thaaang for hound dogs, and then BAM, what? A Hunter Rainboots giveaway? My dream come true. They're one of the holes I plan on trying to fill in my closet in the near future, and this is the perfect opportunity to get some for free. I've never won a giveaway before, but that doesn't mean I can't keep trying, right? I'm so excited. Go check it out!

Day 3: Rainy Days

I checked the weather yesterday when planning out what I was going to wear. Actually, I kind of do that everyday, but I knew it was supposed to rain at some point this week..and since I walk about ten thousand miles to get to class from my parking lot, I thought it'd probably be best to know when I was going to have to deal with the icky mess rain turns campus into. Also, if you ever feel like you don't have enough time in the morning to get ready or just frantically run around throwing clothes everywhere (guilty as charged), I strongly suggest planning everything out before you go to bed. It's something that seems to have been ingrained in me from kindergarten on, I have my father to thank for that.

Needless to say, the rainy day was today. It's just been a constant drizzle/sprinkle type thing goin' on, and I had the brilliant idea to wear a dress and flats. Okay, the dress part wasn't very annoying (except I should've worn tights, rain drizzled legs aren't fun), but the flats part..goodness, my feetsies were sooo cold all morning long! Oh-vell, I had fun imagining myself as Audrey Hepburn, wandering around looking for Cat in the pouring rain, exept..it wasn't pouring, I wasn't looking for a cat named Cat, and Curtis wasn't running after me to find me in an alley and give me a big smooch. It was just drizzly and semi-humid, I was high-stepping it to my first class because I was running late (it's kind of a daily thing for me..), and Curtis was most likely sleeping. Fairy tales do come true! ;)

Oh! Good news, I got the book, Ruby Slippers: How the Soul of a Woman brings Her Home, you can read about it in this post, in the mail yesterday, and I started reading last night. I'm so excited to get the ball rolling with my journey into learning about me, my relationship with Christ, and incorporating all of it into my daily life with Curtis, my family, and my friends. Of course, I'll be writing about it once I get deeper into my readings.

Side note: Skyfall comes out on DVD in SIX days guys. I'm pretty sure it's one of my favorite Bond movies of all time, and since I do have a creepy obsession with all things British, naturally, I have an affinity for Mr. Bond and his movies. This has also led to an odd fascination with tweed. I kind of want to buy everything I see in tweed, it's a problem.

Muggles and I wish you a happy Wednesday! She's probably the cutest rain beagle you'll ever see, no? I've got an exam to study for, not fun, but I'm feelin' pretty good about it. First exam of the semester guys, it starts getting crazy after tomorrow. I'm not looking forward to it. Sad face.

Day 1: Lavender Sweaters and a Rant

Today's my first day of the 30x30, I think I did pretty good, but of course, the tough part lies in the days ahead. I got this sweater the other day at Forever 21 for 7 bucks. I've been wanting to get more pullovers so I can layer more; layering is definitely a new thing for me, but I really like this new discovery I've made..it makes everything look more put together!

As for the rant portion of this post..
It's been getting slightly warmer here in Texas, and the shorts are starting to come out..which means really big t-shirts with really tiny shorts? I'm not sure if I understand this obsession some girls have taken on at school. Is it just here at A&M, or is it everywhere? Is it just sorority girls, or do regular girls do this too? I say regular girls because I'm one of them.. I don't mind the idea of sororities per se..but they do bother me. It's kind of like a pet peeve, I just don't get why everyone has to look exactly alike. I like being different, unique, whatever. Oh, and my roommate freshman year, she was super cool by the way, but she literally told me she thought I was a lesbian before meeting me because I wasn't planning on joining a sorority, probably has something to do with my disdain for them. But don't get me wrong, I've met so many wonderful girls that are in sororities, my best friend is in one for crying out loud! Okay, back to the purpose of this rant, why do you girls feel the need to look like you aren't wearing any pants!? Please, explain, I genuinely want to know. It's probably super comfortable, but I'm more comfortable looking like I've got pants on. Sure, I'll wear a large t-shirt when I go to sleep with some shorts..not unheard of, but I'm not gonna go out in public with it on. Also, why would you buy a t-shirt that's three sizes too big? Another odd thing to me. Granted, I'm actually more happy with this trend rather than clothes that  are too tight. I duno, I really don't get it, and as I was walking to-and-from school today, I witnessed more than my fair share of this clothing obsession. I'm not a fan. There, I said it. I won't be conforming to this one ladies, except when I'm going to sleepy sleep. End rant, I'm sorry if you got annoyed with me.. I promise I'm not a total jerk!

Here's what I wore while everyone else was kickin' it in their Nike shorts and XL tees:

Muggles says hello to the blog world. She doesn't show much emotion, except when it comes to food, she loves food. I mean, she has an extraordinary amount of love for food. But, she also loves walks, playing at 1 o'clock in the mornin', her bubs, Skywalker, sniffing everything in sight {she is a beagle, what can I say?}, cuddling with peeps, and burrowing into the covers so her face isn't exposed to the light when she sleeps {a trait she gets from me, teehee}. Oh, and she stares at me while I drive.. it's kinda creepy sometimes, but ya know.
