Recappin' the 30x30 Challenge

Here they are, in all of their glory, all of my thirty outfits in one place. It's been real 30x30 challenge, its been fun, but.. I'm glad you're over. The rest of my closet is feeling pretty neglected, and it's high time I embrace it with open arms. Oh, and you can click on each picture to go to the specific day if you'd like!

Some things I learned along the way..
  1. My chambray, you wonderful wonderful creature, you. You always made me feel complete, you knew just how to pull an outfit together when it seemed so wrong, you, my friend, are a life saver, and I didn't full appreciate you until this challenge. But no more! You, and some of your pals, will be joining the ranks of most awesome clothing pieces in my closet, so glad I picked you out of the crowd when I planned all of this out.
  2. My Gap blue jeans, they are literally the most comfortable pants on earth, and now I want to buy three more pairs so that when they start wearing down, I won't have to be sad.
  3. I have a couple of items I only wore once or twice, and one item that I didn't even wear at all. The shorts are a gimme, it never got warm enough to truly wear shorts, so I replaced them with some other items such as my vest and a cardigan. But, the navy polka dotted sweater that I wanted so badly over Christmas has to go.. I think I'd like it more if it was a medium, but its a large. I only bought it because it was on clearance, a lesson learned I suppose, don't buy things that don't really fit you! Seems kinda obvious, but sometimes shopping blinds me.
  4. My beloved Gap loafers cannot be trusted. They aren't good for my feet, and even though I love wearing them and they're the most comfortable things ever.. I have to buy shoes that are better suited for walking a lot because well.. I walk a ton. So, although I won't be getting rid of them, they'll just be for around the house stuff.
  5. I heart ankle boots, a lot. Both pairs that I've bought in the past couple of months are stinking amazing, and I know I'll get my money's worth from both of them. Good job, Kristina.
  6. Accessories really do make outfits, and I need to find myself pieces that I absolutely love and will love for a long while. I'm really lacking in the necklace department, so I'll try to search for some cute ones in the coming months.
  7. You guys are awesome. I'm so glad to have such an amazing support group, y'all encouraged me to keep pushing..even when I thought I couldn't come up with anymore ideas. This was a fantastic way to get my blog jump started (Lord knows I've tried too many times), and I'm so happy to have found a great group of ladies who make my day each and every day with y'all's sweet, sweet comments.
What are some of your favorites? My top 5 would have to be Day 7, Day 8, Day 12, Day 22, and Day 26, in numerical order of course.

Alright, enough of the 30x30, I'm ready to start bloggin'! I've got a whole plan set out for scheduling posts and all that jazz, I'm super stoked. If there's one thing y'all should know about me, I'm a bit of an organization freak.. lists, lists and more lists.

Hope you guys have enjoyed the past month, I know I have -- and it's not because of the clothes!  ;)

Day 30: Fin.

What what whaaat?! I'm finished. Fin. Fertig. Acabado. Färdig. Finite. Seriously, I'm done you guys. I couldn't be more excited..if it wasn't clear by my extensive translation of the word finished. It feels kind of good to accomplish something such as this; I may not have completely stayed within all of the rules (I'm talking to you new bag that's down the page a little) but it's pretty amazing what you can do with 30 items from you closet, wouldn't you agree?

I thought about taking a picture of my closet for you guys to know just how excited I am to have it back, but I'll save that for another day. In the mean time, here's my last outfit of my very first 30x30 challenge.

I realized I had forgotten to take an excited picture (then proceeded to take about a million), so I had to turn around and go back into the crazy wind. Seriously, what the heck is going on Texas? I don't remember it being this windy, for this long.. ever.

As I was going back through my outfits from the previous days, I realized I had only worn this skirt in a "dressed-up" manner, so I decided to create something I could wear any day. I'm pretty excited to wear it during the summer with some sandals and a tank top! Oh, and that bag..I'm in love. It was one of the things I picked up on my Saturday trip to Austin this past weekend for $15 at Savers. Now, it was a little bit more than what I wanted to spend, but I figured since I had been looking for a black fringed bag and the one I had my eye on was $5 more and much smaller, it was worth it. My dad isn't really a fan though, he says it makes me look like a hippy. I think I'm okay with that, ha.

I'll have my 30x30 recap up tomorrow (I've been ready for this day for awhile, ha)! Hope y'all have a terrific Tuesday!

Day 29: Vested Interest

For those of you in the land of places that have actual seasons, you should know it's 83 degrees right now. Yup. That's happening. Who says spring's a couple of weeks away? It's already here in Texas! I had a completely different outfit planned out for today, there was a sweater involved and perhaps some ankle boots, obviously that would not have worked out well. Instead, I whipped out my thrifted vest and a shirt that I realized I had only worn once this challenge! Funny, how I forgot about an item when I've only go thirty to choose from -- this is clearly a sign that this challenge is just what I needed. I have so much, and I take all of that for granted when I peer into the closets (or blogs) of others. I want what they've got, and I forget about what I already have. I hadn't even put this combination together yet, so I was pretty pleased with myself last night as I stood in front of my mirror admiring my handy work while singing loudly to some Fleetwood Mac.

The more I wear this vest, the more I like it, which is good..because having something in my closet for almost two years and never wearing it isn't okay. I'm glad I threw it into the 30x30, and I'm still coming up with ways to wear it. I'm gonna go take a shower, I can't handle temperatures above 80 apparently, ha. Oh, and uno mas, uno mas, uno mas! I have no idea what I'm going to throw together for tomorrow..but I'll try to make it good!

Day 28: Hats & Such

I'd just like to say, I love hats. Honestly, I wish we'd go back to a time where it was completely normal to wear a hat every single day. That way people wouldn't just awkwardly stare at you because you chose to wear a hat on that particular day; well, besides baseball caps or whatever.. I realized earlier when I got home from my parents' house that I've started collecting different hats, and I'm pretty proud of it. Thus, I write about it on my blog, obviously. I snagged this hat and it's burgundy twin at Wal-Mart. I bought the burgundy one a few weeks ago while Curtis and I were picking up Skyfall for my birthday, I know..typical Kristina, browsing the hat and scarf section when I'm supposed to be buying something else. The price tag said $10, I was kind of bummed, but it was exactly what I had been looking to get for a while, so I thought, why the heck not? I've got birthday money, and obviously I have to spend it at some point, ha! So, when we went to the awesome annoying self-checkout scanner thing, and the hat rang up for $2, I felt like I was stealing it or something. Seriously, I thought there must have been a mistake, and the scanner scanned the wrong code or something.. But, I went back for this one today (not really, my mom and I went to pick up a couple of things that have nothing to do with hats, I've got a problem you guys), and I was still afraid the scanner had made a mistake the first time. NOPE. They really were $2, and now I've got two awesome hats. I'm a happy camper, plus it went wonderfully with what I was wearing today! Yay!

I tried finding a new place in Calvert to take pictures, but people just seemed to be everywhere I went. This whole, let me take pictures of myself posing for my iPhone on a self-timer thing is still a bit awkward, and I'm not sure if I should just explain to people what I'm doing..or just let them stare and wonder. I did stare down a person in a truck though, it was one of those, I'm going to stand my ground moments, where I had that "I'm a bad-a" attitude and you're not going to intimidate me into getting in my car and leaving..this is obviously completely normal, duh! Eventually they drove off, but it was seemed to take forever.

Oh, and excuse the stringy hair.. I promise I'm getting a hair cut soon, and it was rather windy today, which didn't help. It probably wasn't the best day to wear a dress or a hat, story of my life.

Monday's right around the corner, I'm not too excited.. buuuuut, spring break starts on Friday, yayayay! Oh, and I'll be done with my 30x30 Tuesday! This week's gonna be awesome. Hope y'all have had an amazing weekend, did you do anything fun?! Any cool plans for the break? Or the coming weekends? I've got a lot planned, and I can't wait to share it with all of you guys.
