Day 29: Vested Interest

For those of you in the land of places that have actual seasons, you should know it's 83 degrees right now. Yup. That's happening. Who says spring's a couple of weeks away? It's already here in Texas! I had a completely different outfit planned out for today, there was a sweater involved and perhaps some ankle boots, obviously that would not have worked out well. Instead, I whipped out my thrifted vest and a shirt that I realized I had only worn once this challenge! Funny, how I forgot about an item when I've only go thirty to choose from -- this is clearly a sign that this challenge is just what I needed. I have so much, and I take all of that for granted when I peer into the closets (or blogs) of others. I want what they've got, and I forget about what I already have. I hadn't even put this combination together yet, so I was pretty pleased with myself last night as I stood in front of my mirror admiring my handy work while singing loudly to some Fleetwood Mac.

The more I wear this vest, the more I like it, which is good..because having something in my closet for almost two years and never wearing it isn't okay. I'm glad I threw it into the 30x30, and I'm still coming up with ways to wear it. I'm gonna go take a shower, I can't handle temperatures above 80 apparently, ha. Oh, and uno mas, uno mas, uno mas! I have no idea what I'm going to throw together for tomorrow..but I'll try to make it good!

Day 23: Downton

So, Curtis and I finished the third (I think..?) season of Downton Abbey the other night. Can I just say I'm a cry baby? Seriously, I was balling throughout the entire season y'all. I won't give any true details away, just in case any of you haven't watched this season, or any of the seasons, although I highly recommend watching, it's one of my favorites. I'm a big sucker for anything British, who would else paint a pink Union Jack on a canvas and put it in their bedroom? Not to mention I'm semi-obsessed with that 1920's time period, so naturally, I love Downton. It got a little soap opera-esque for a little bit, but I'd much rather watch a soap opera with British accents..oh, and some really awesome clothes. So go do yourself a favor, and get on the Downton Abbey bandwagon, better late than never!

I was laughing at Skywalker..

This is another one of those outfits I've had in my head for the entire 30x30, and I finally decided to go for it today, seeing as I only have seven more days. I've had this skirt since high school, but I've never even worn it before; I've got a few items in my closet that are like that, but somehow they manage to maintain their position in my closet after each purge. It was always too short to wear to school while I was in high school, and for some reason I thought I could only wear it during the spring and summer.. Why? I have no idea, obviously I had never heard of tights before.. just kidding. Oh, just so all of you know, I've traded my black booties in for my sandals, I should've just done this in the first place, but I finally just made the decision this morning. It's not really cheating since I haven't even worn my sandals, so whatevs.

My hair absolutely wouldn't cooperate this morning, so I decided to give a tutorial I found the other day a try, you can find it here. Abby's got so many awesome tutorials that I want to try out! Hope y'all have an awesome Tuesday, I'm gonna get some studying done, and..catch up on some more of my ever growing list of TV shows, maybe one day I'll let you all in on my favorites?

Day 9: Too Casual?

The first sign of stress for me is random pimples showing up on my face. Does that sound gross? Yeah, probably. But, seriously. It's the first sign that I'm getting stressed out, and I then proceed to get more stressed out about my random blemishes. I've never really had a skin problem, except for the occasional pimple here and there, but college has made me break out more than when I used to sweat five times a week in athletics, a part of my life that I would like to have back, even though I absolutely despised it back in the day..suicides? Who names something suicides if they don't wish to invoke the feeling inside of you? But seriously, today's been stressful, I'm starting to break out, and I haven't had near enough sleep or caffeine to make it all better.

My stress level started pretty high this morning when I literally tried on seven different outfits, hated every single one of them, and finally just gave up because I was going to make myself and Curtis late to class if I didn't hurry up and make a decision.  So I ended up in this, it's not amazing, not bad, pretty normal, sub-par, etc etc. But after two days of having outfits I could wear everyday, everything seems sub-par. I suppose that's the challenge in all of this. If you're disappointed, I'll understand, but I promise tomorrow will be a better day! {I'm sort of going to force it to be one, ha}. Now, I'm gonna go study my life away and eat some grub.

Hope you enjoyed my grumbles, and here's my all too casual outfit of the day:

Been walkin' around in these things since 2004.
Oh, and I know you guys can't tell, but I got grease on my shirt.. I've washed it twice already today, nothing has worked. Any tips for getting the stain out? This is also the reason I've taken forever to actually take pictures for today, thank you kettle corn.. Oh, and don't judge me for spelling beanie wrong in my first picture. I know no one noticed either of those two things, I have this awful habit of pointing out stuff like that. Oops.

Day 1: Lavender Sweaters and a Rant

Today's my first day of the 30x30, I think I did pretty good, but of course, the tough part lies in the days ahead. I got this sweater the other day at Forever 21 for 7 bucks. I've been wanting to get more pullovers so I can layer more; layering is definitely a new thing for me, but I really like this new discovery I've made..it makes everything look more put together!

As for the rant portion of this post..
It's been getting slightly warmer here in Texas, and the shorts are starting to come out..which means really big t-shirts with really tiny shorts? I'm not sure if I understand this obsession some girls have taken on at school. Is it just here at A&M, or is it everywhere? Is it just sorority girls, or do regular girls do this too? I say regular girls because I'm one of them.. I don't mind the idea of sororities per se..but they do bother me. It's kind of like a pet peeve, I just don't get why everyone has to look exactly alike. I like being different, unique, whatever. Oh, and my roommate freshman year, she was super cool by the way, but she literally told me she thought I was a lesbian before meeting me because I wasn't planning on joining a sorority, probably has something to do with my disdain for them. But don't get me wrong, I've met so many wonderful girls that are in sororities, my best friend is in one for crying out loud! Okay, back to the purpose of this rant, why do you girls feel the need to look like you aren't wearing any pants!? Please, explain, I genuinely want to know. It's probably super comfortable, but I'm more comfortable looking like I've got pants on. Sure, I'll wear a large t-shirt when I go to sleep with some shorts..not unheard of, but I'm not gonna go out in public with it on. Also, why would you buy a t-shirt that's three sizes too big? Another odd thing to me. Granted, I'm actually more happy with this trend rather than clothes that  are too tight. I duno, I really don't get it, and as I was walking to-and-from school today, I witnessed more than my fair share of this clothing obsession. I'm not a fan. There, I said it. I won't be conforming to this one ladies, except when I'm going to sleepy sleep. End rant, I'm sorry if you got annoyed with me.. I promise I'm not a total jerk!

Here's what I wore while everyone else was kickin' it in their Nike shorts and XL tees:

Muggles says hello to the blog world. She doesn't show much emotion, except when it comes to food, she loves food. I mean, she has an extraordinary amount of love for food. But, she also loves walks, playing at 1 o'clock in the mornin', her bubs, Skywalker, sniffing everything in sight {she is a beagle, what can I say?}, cuddling with peeps, and burrowing into the covers so her face isn't exposed to the light when she sleeps {a trait she gets from me, teehee}. Oh, and she stares at me while I drive.. it's kinda creepy sometimes, but ya know.
